Saturday Snow

This southern girl has lived around the country. I've even lived places where it snows a lot!!! So I know that 1-2" of snow isn't an abundance, but when you rarely see it at all, it's pretty exciting! On Saturday the South got a little bit of snow... it just didn't stay very long.

While some of the rest of our friends across the country were no doubt snowed in, we were enjoying the beauty of the white stuff in our neck of the woods. Here are some pictures... progressing through the day.

We woke up to rain, but the snowflakes started coming down around 9 am. It picked up and started sticking a while later. Shortly after 2 pm everything pretty much stopped. The melting was in full gear the rest of the day, but we enjoyed it while it was here.

The snow is coming down here, but the camera isn't able to capture it very well.

You can see the snow starting to collect on the branches of some of the trees in our front yard.

More snow coming down. I suspect we would have had much better

accumulation if it hadn't rained all night and soaked everything first.

The snow on the holly bushes was quite lovely.

And the snow on the bare branches brought another kind of beauty.

Some of my children haven't figured out how to dress

for the cold weather. I really have tried to teach them!

Some of the children were even able to sled down the hill in our

front yard! It was nothing like the sledding we do on our trips to

Park City, UT... but they had a grand time just the same.

The snow in the yard is about gone, but some of the children were

able to make some snow creations. Here's Lydia's miniature igloo.

Lord, you make all things beautiful in their time. Our brown winter yard has been less than exciting recently, but the beautiful snow brought such delight to our home. Thank you for the pleasant surprise. We'd love some more!

Each time I see snow I'm reminded of your gift of salvation. You've promised that when we put our trust in You, our sins will become white like snow. Thank you, Father, for that precious gift.
